Guana Cay

History

Located a little less than 200 miles off the coast of Florida, Guana Cay is a quaint and charming settlement with a diverse population of locals and second homeowners situated off the island of Abaco in the Bahamas. Founded by Loyalists fleeing political persecution in the aftermath of the American War of Independence, Guana Cay was a small fishing village until the 20th century with the development of the year round Bahamian tourism industry. The cay grew, and the establishment of iconic venues such as the world famous Nippers and eventually the Baker’s Bay Club Golf & Ocean Club have put Guana Cay on the map as the place to be in the Abacos.
